PHOTOS ARE FROM NATIONAL GALLERY
Van Gogh: Sunflowers
To Van Gogh, yellow standed for happiness and sunflower was a symbol of devotion and loyalty in Dutch literature.

Van Gogh: Van Gogh's chair
The yellow chair is outlined with a blue-green line which both reflects the wall colour and contrasts with the dull orange-red of the floor tiles.

Van Gogh freely admitted the artificiality of his art but maintained that since it was impossible to match paint colours to what one actually perceived, 'a painter had better start from the colours on his palette than from the colours in nature'. (quoted from National Gallery)
Stubbs, George: Whistlejacket
This picture is HUGE, since the painter drew the hourse based on the real size of the horse. The colours are perfect to me.

Eyck, Jan Van: The Arnolfini Portrait
There are so many interesting symbols in this pictures and I storng recommend people to know about those via : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Arnolfini_Portrait

今天到倫敦去,回來累得只剩半條命。
但是National Gallery的好畫不少,既然免門票,我想日後會再次造訪。
